French toast

After all the holiday food, it was a time for something lighter for breakfast. So we went with French toast. The trick is to use brioche bread (or egg bread), not regular one. It has to be whole bread, so you can slice it yourself in about 1 inch slices. Trust me, you won’t be disappointed! This is the one I use:

Also, in case you are not a big fan of maple syrup – I recommend to try the amber one: the flavor is not too strong, just the right amount. All others I tried are either not tasting much or too strong to the point I can’t eat it.

Ingredients

1 egg
125 ml milk
1 tbsp white sugar
1 tsp vanilla
4 slices of aprox. 1″ of brioche bread
cinnamon
butter for the pan

maple syrup and fruits (banana, raspberry) to serve

Instructions

Mix all the ingredients in a bowl.
Heat a large pan (ideally to fit all 4 slices) on medium heat. Melt a bit of butter in the pan, to avoid the bread sticking.

Soak each slice for 7-8 seconds in the mix, then cook them in the pan until golden brown. Sprinkle cinnamon on each side.

Serve immediately with fresh fruits and maple syrup.

Bon appetit.
